How can I fix a Crab with a broken baseplate weight?

If the weight has come out of your CRANKA Crab, it usually means that the crab has broken due to impact with solid structure. The plastic support rails holding the baseplate into the crab's body tend to break, allowing the weight to fall out. Gluing a new weight in place can be challenging, as it may not stay in place once the mechanical interaction is broken.
However, there are a couple of methods to revive your broken crab and get more use out of it. One method is to use adhesive lead tape, which is commonly used for weighting lures. Start by cutting the tape to the shape of the baseplate and apply super glue before attaching it to the belly of the crab. To add more weight, repeat the process with additional layers of lead tape.
Another method is to use a small round ball sinker, flatten it out with a hammer, and cut it to the shape of the baseplate. Attach the weight to the bottom of the crab using superglue. This method allows you to customize the lead thickness - but, please know that the weight will come off again at some point during use down the track.
These are the two best methods we have found so far to revive broken CRANKA Crabs. There may be other methods that you can experiment with as well. Keep in mind that preventing the crab from breaking in the first place by avoiding impacts with solid structure is by far the best way to prolong its lifespan!
